June 2018

1st June 2018

On Friday 15th June, 8 children from Years 3 and 4 took part in a football tournament at Blackwater School. They all played brilliantly, working together as a team and they were a great credit to the school. After playing 6 matches it was announced that we were the overall winners! Well done everyone!
Early in June we were visited by our friends from Rilsey Avenue Primary School, in Tottenham, London. The came and stayed with us for a week, and every day ten children from UKS2 joined then on their adventures.
On Monday, after they had dropped off their belongings, they went down to Portreath beach. The weather was great and they enjoyed paddling in the waves and playing on the golden sand. The highlight of the afternoon was when a seal popped up out of the waves, it was very close in to the shore so we all had a great view.
Tuesday saw us on the beach at Praa Sands, where we enjoyed a days surfing instruction. Everyone had a great time in the water and a few of the children even managed to stand up on the boards. We also spotted the newest air craft carrier, HMS Queen Elizabeth, in Mounts Bay, as well as seeing St Micheal's Mount.
On Wednesday we visited the Eden project, the children enjoyed going inside the biomes and seeing all the different plants. On the way home we went to Charlestown, where we had the opportunity to go on board an old ship, that has recently been used in the latest series of Poldark.
The final excursion was a trip  to Truro to catch the boat to Falmouth, then a visit to the castle before ending the day on the beach and finding crabs and fish in the rock pools.
The children thoroughly enjoyed their stay in Cornwall and left us some thoughts on their stay.
