School Menu

From January 2021, we will be moving to a contract with Chartwells for our catering. Our current kitchen staff will remain with us.  Please see the letters below for further information.  Please note that if your child requires a specific medical diet, you will need to complete the information form below and return to Chartwells.  
Due to the current Covid situation, school meals are delivered to children in their classrooms.  As a result, a revised menu (that enables us to transport meals) is in place.  Meals (which will need to be paid for in advance - please ensure that payment is provided in a sealed, named envelope - we are unable to give change) will be served to children in their classroom bubbles.  Please click on the link below for the revised current menu and the menu for next half term (Autumn 2).

Food served in our school
School meals are prepared by our Catering Manager, Mrs J Williams, and her team.
Menus are published in the newsletter each week and children can decide to have a school lunch on the day. All children in Key Stage 1 are entitled to a FREE SCHOOL MEAL.
Each day the school hall is transformed into a café/restaurant with table runners, 'Victorian inkwells containing fresh flowers or table decorations. The sandwich bar and salad bar always look welcoming and have a wonderful range of different foods, unusual breads and delicious fillings. Our youngest children come into lunch first and help themselves to the salad bar and are helped at the main counter to choose the food they want.
The children have plenty of help and support with adult helpers and older children act as waiters and waitresses. Once they have finished their lunch, they are all expected to carry their plates to a central area where they scrape their plates and place knives and forks and plates into the correct areas ready for washing.

We are required by law to provide allergy information for all the meals we provide. All of our menus have information on the allergens in the food we use. If you require further information regarding this, please do not hesitate to contact us and we will do our very best to ensure children who have specific dietary needs have their requirements met.

Our suppliers

We want to use as many local products and companies as possible. To achieve this we use the following companies listed below. We place trust in these companies to supply us with high quality goods which are ethically sourced.

West Country Fruit Sales (based in Falmouth) – for fresh fruit, vegetables, some dry food and cleaning products.

Brian Etherington (Scorrier, Redruth) – for high quality local meat and sausages.

Scorse Foods (Helston) – we use this company for other high quality frozen products.

Matthew Stevens (St Ives) – the rest of our fish comes fresh or frozen from here.

Prima Bakery (Scorrier, Redruth) – any bread we do not bake at Pennoweth, comes from Prima Bakery.

Chaffins (Redruth) – we use this company for any dry goods, as well as some frozen products, such as peas and sweetcorn.

Rodda’s (Scorrier, Redruth) – all of our milk and yoghurt is provided by this company. The milk comes from less than 30 miles away and all of our yoghurt is from the West Country.

Callestick (based in Truro) – all of our high end local ice-creams comes from this Cornish company.
